Four dishes, different ways to build a meal
Vegan Rasta Pasta pairs penne and bell peppers with our coconut milk vegan sauce. Curry Chick Peas uses chickpeas in a curry coconut sauce and lists a choice of accompaniments. Start with the actual dish description rather than treating every vegan option as the same meal.
Stir Fry Ackee & Tostones is listed without fish, with ackee sautéed in herbs and spices and served with tostones. Ital Stew is a vegetable and coconut-stew dish listed with rice and avocado. Ask about today’s availability and the full ingredient and side choices for the item you want.
| Dish | Menu-listed base | Useful question |
|---|---|---|
| Vegan Rasta Pasta | Penne, coconut milk sauce, peppers | What is in the current sauce? |
| Curry Chick Peas | Chickpeas, curry coconut sauce | Which offered sides fit my preference? |
| Ackee & Tostones | Ackee, herbs/spices, tostones; no fish listed | What is in the complete preparation? |
| Ital Stew | Vegetables, coconut stew, rice and avocado | Which rice and accompaniments are available? |
Coconut milk and cream are different choices
Our standard Tropix Rasta Pasta uses cream sauce. Vegan Rasta Pasta is a separate item using coconut milk sauce. The names are similar, but the sauces are not the same. Choose the listed vegan item when that is the dish you want; do not assume that removing a protein changes the cream sauce.
This distinction also matters when someone else is ordering for you. Give them the complete item name and the questions you need answered. If a sauce ingredient matters because of an allergy, explain that directly to our kitchen instead of relying on the word vegan.
Tropix Rasta Pasta
Cream sauce. Protein additions do not change the base sauce.
Vegan Rasta Pasta
Coconut milk sauce and bell peppers. Ask about current ingredients.
Ask about the whole plate
Names such as rice, cabbage, plantain or festival do not establish all ingredients or preparation details. A dish may also include a sauce, garnish or accompaniment that needs its own question. Check which sides are offered with your selected item and which choices fit your needs.
Use a specific request: “I am considering the curry chickpeas. Which of the offered sides fit my plant-based preference, and what is in the sauce?” A question like this is more useful than asking whether everything at the restaurant is vegan. Our restaurant also serves meat, seafood and dairy-containing dishes.

Preference and food allergy are different conversations
For a preference, explain which ingredients you choose to avoid. For a food allergy, name the allergen and ask about ingredients and possible contact during preparation. Do not assume one menu label answers both questions. FDA guidance explains why ingredient information and cross-contact matter.
Ask before placing the order and wait for a clear response about your exact dish. If the information you need cannot be confirmed, do not treat a note in an order box as reassurance. Confirm any allergen-free or gluten-free requirement directly with our kitchen before ordering.
Ingredient information: FDA food-allergy guidance. Ask our kitchen about your exact order.
Make a mixed-group order clear
For individual meals, keep each person’s dish name, chosen sides and questions together. A group can compare the vegan section with the wider Jamaican menu without assuming that shared sauces or sides fit everyone. Check current prices and the item selections in the ordering service.
For an event, count the meals needed for each preference and contact us about catering before choosing pan quantities. The right plan depends on the whole menu, confirmed yields and preparation needs. A plant-based option should be planned as an actual meal rather than an assumed side dish.
Choose your dish, then check the details
Use the comparison and checklist on this page to narrow your choices. Follow the current menu and ordering links to review the item available for your visit. If you need ingredient information, call 240-877-4858 before checkout.

Your questions,
answered.
A few details can make choosing easier. Here is where to start.
Talk with our teamWhere can I find non-dairy food in Frederick?
Our menu’s vegan section is a starting point for comparing coconut-milk pasta, chickpea curry, ackee and vegetable stew. Ask our kitchen about the current ingredients of your exact dish and accompaniments. A vegan label alone is not a dairy-allergy assurance.
Which vegan Caribbean dishes are on your menu?
The published vegan section lists Curry Chick Peas, Vegan Rasta Pasta, Stir Fry Ackee & Tostones without fish, and Ital Stew. Review the current menu and ask about availability and offered sides before ordering.
Is the standard rasta pasta vegan?
Our standard Tropix Rasta Pasta lists cream sauce. A separate Vegan Rasta Pasta lists coconut milk sauce. Select the correct item rather than assuming that changing a protein makes the standard pasta vegan.
Are all sides vegan or gluten-free?
Check the ingredients, sauces and preparation for the specific side and requirement. Ask about the whole meal, because a vegetable-based name does not establish vegan or gluten-free suitability.
Can a mixed group order vegan and non-vegan meals?
Our wider menu includes meat, seafood, dairy-containing dishes and a separate vegan section. Keep individual choices clear and confirm ingredient concerns. For group catering, tell us how many guests have each preference before discussing quantities.
